IT industry has bright prospect

The information technology and communications industries in Viet Nam have made remarkable progress recently, thus contributing to the country's integration into the world economy. The assessment was made by participants in a seminar on the overview of the IT and communications industries in 2005 which opened in Ho Chi Minh City on July 5. The participants noted that with the Government's determination to increase investment in this hi-tech industry and Prime Minister Phan Van Khai's visits to IT groups and universities during his visit to the US, Viet Nam's IT and communications industries have a bright prospect for the future. At the seminar, around 600 participants from various ministries, sectors, institutes, universities and IT companies also discussed the development of e-government and e-commerce in the country. After the closure of the seminar on July 6, Vietnam Computerworld Expo 2005, the tenth of its kind so far, will open. These events are being organised by the International Data Group Viet Nam, the Ho Chi Minh City Informatics Association and the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
