Semiconductor industry to see 8% growth in 2006
The global semiconductor industry would see a slight growth of 8 percent next year, reaching a size of US$240 billion (NT$8 trillion), market research firm IDC said recently. The company said the industry saw its capacity utilization rate drop to a low during the second quarter as a result of continued inventory digestion that began earlier this year. Capital expenditure meanwhile dropped 12 percent and would be at the same, if not a lower, level next year, the company said.
