Walkman Commended

The Sony (SNE) Walkman, which first debuted in 1979 at a cost of $200, is the number-one gadget to come about in the last 50 years, according to PC World Magazine in an article commending the 50 greatest gadgets of the past half century. The device virtually invented the concept of personal electronics. The Apple (AAPL) iPod was listed as the number-two gadget, while digital video recorders Replay and TiVo (TIVO) came in third and the PalmPilot (PALM) in fourth.
