Apple Unveils Macs With Intel Chips - First of New PCs Arrives Half-Year Ahead of Schedule

Apple Computer Inc. introduced its first Macintosh personal computers based on new microprocessors from Intel Corp., delivering the products nearly a half-year earlier than the company had promised. Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs, making his annual keynote at the Macworld conference in San Francisco, also said that holiday sales were far above company and analyst forecasts. For the three months ending December, Apple had revenue of $5.7 billion, up 63% from $3.49 billion in the same period the prior year and $1 billion more than Apple had projected for the quarter.
