Biotechnology; Parma companies will look to public institutions for productivity help in 2005

According to Life Science Insights (LSI), an IDC company, 2005 will see a continued evolution of the private/public funding model within drug discovery and development. The discovery model for pharmaceutical companies has produced a number of targets, but few genomics-based drugs to date. Pharmaceutical companies recognize that innovation is happening, but it's happening somewhere else. One key to capturing external innovation is the efficient use of information technology. This prediction and others will be discussed in detail during LSI's "Predictions 2005: Top 10 Predictions for the Biopharmaceutical Industry" telebriefing to be held November 30.
