Data Storage Equipment Sales Rose 9.9% In 2Q
Sales of hard disk-based data-storage equipment rose sharply in the second quarter as business customers snapped up machines to meet rising demand for digital storage space. In a quarterly survey, market researcher IDC said sales of the gear totaled $5.6 billion in the second quarter, up 9.9% from the same period in 2004. That was the largest quarterly gain in two years.
