IDG on track toward a printless future
Patrick McGovern likes visiting the Netherlands. He likes the people, appreciates the service level and enjoys the business climate. Once again he was very pleased with the sales achieved in this country. In pro capita terms, the Netherlands is even one of the strongest IDG markets, says McGovern. “That’s because the Dutch are always very enthusiastic about technology,” he explains. All the same, given the type of person he is, perhaps he is just being polite. The founder and Chairman of the Board of International Data Group (IDG) lacks the outward features typically associated with a ‘tycoon’, although his business achievements certainly justify that label. With its portfolio of three hundred printed publications and four hundred websites, IDG claims to be the world’s biggest publisher in the field of technology. Company founder McGovern’s assets are worth an estimated two billion dollars, which has earned him a 106th position on the Forbes list of the richest Americans.
