Brain Work Gets New Digs at MIT
MIT welcomed its latest contestant last week among wealthy donors and researchers vying to build the most impressive building on campus. Hundreds of researchers will soon move into new offices at the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at MIT, located directly opposite the Ray and Maria Stata Center designed by Frank O. Gehry. It's a futuristic, cathedral-like complex designed by a team of architects, including Charles Correa. Pat McGovern, the computer magazine publishing magnate and MIT alumnus, was in Cambridge on Friday to dedicate the complex, named after him and his wife, Lore Harp McGovern, who donated $350 million to build the brain research facility.
