Lucian Constantin

Lucian Constantin is an IDG News Service correspondent based in Iasi, Romania. He writes about information security, privacy and data protection. He joined IDG in September 2011 after covering the same beats for Softpedia.com for three years.

Lucian got acquainted with the world of computers in the early '90s and has been passionate about information security since the age of 15, when he partially (and poorly) reverse-engineered a Windows computer Trojan horse.

He mostly learned about computer hardware, operating systems, programming languages, Internet protocols and information security issues by reading online documentation and spending a lot of time around Internet technical support forums and dedicated online chat rooms.

While in college, Lucian worked as a part-time computer network administrator for several local businesses, but after graduating, he decided to pursue a career in technology journalism. He has a degree in political science and journalism from the National School of Political Studies and Public Administration of Bucharest, Romania.

In his free time, Lucian enjoys watching movies, reading books, playing rugby and taking trips around Romania and abroad with his friends. He also attends information security conferences and particularly enjoys the technical talks.
